Amanda Johnson, OT

Ocupational Therapist

Amanda graduated from the University of Utah, School of Occupational Therapy, in 2008.  Since then, she has worked in areas focusing on neurological, sensory, fine motor training, cognitive, and independence training for children and adults. Amanda has a great belief in the ability of the brain and body to change with practice and the correct education. As a lover or research, she uses treatment approaches that have been proven by research and client results to be the most effective. Some of these include Sensory Integration (SIT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motor Learning Theory, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy and Massed Practice (CIMT), Learning Theories, Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP), and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA).

To ensure the integration of client care, Amanda believes strongly in collaboration between mental health practitioners and collaborates with family members and school/work personnel so that her clients have the adaptations required to be successful in family, school, or work activities.  As part of this process, Amanda provides support during IEP meetings (if the parents/students wish) to be an advocate for client needs.

In her personal life, Amanda loves anything that challenges her brain or body.  Some of her greatest interests include exercise, meditation, games, playing musical instruments, cooking, and anything that is cute (baby animals, new clothing etc.).
