
Carissa Perry, MSW
Social Work Intern
Carissa received her B.A. in Sociology and Writing from Calvin College in 2014. She is currently completing her Masters in Social Work at the University of Utah, and will graduate in April 2016 with a concentration in Child Welfare. Carissa started working with children as a full-time nanny, and nannied for 6 years, which has given her experience in working with children of many different ages and developmental stages. Carissa has worked at the YWCA domestic violence shelter and a residential treatment center for adolescent girls with mental health and behavioral issues. Carissa completed her first year social work practicum at the Dual Immersion Academy doing individual and group therapy with children ages 5-14 years old. While at the Dual Immersion Academy, she also taught Community Empowerment classes geared towards strengthening families. In addition, Carissa has done individual and group therapy with adolescent girls in foster care through Salt Lake County Youth Services. She is experienced in working with children and teens struggling with family issues, behavioral issues, grief, anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Carissa practices from a strengths-based perspective and is trained in dialectical behavioral therapy and mind-body bridging.
